CHILE. El Banco de Concepcion. 1 Peso, 1885. P-S176r. Remainders. Uncut Sheet of (3). About Uncirculated.
Printed by ABNC. An uncut trio of 1 Peso remainders from this elusive issuer. The notes are comprised of yellow, dark gold and green ink, whilst the vignettes and border design are seen in jet black ink. Typical ornate lathe work and heavy geometric designs, as typical of ABNC notes of the era. Seen at left on the notes is allegorical woman next to a glove and instruments representing Science. At right is a portrait of Anibal Pinto. The reverse of the notes depicts a Native at center, with "Republica de Chile" at top and the bank name going across the center. Spindle holes are seen in the selvage at left, which have resulted in internal/margin tears. This would make an excellent pairing with the 20 Peso remainder trio from the same issuer we are offering in the next lot.
