HONG KONG. Specie Office Silver Ingot, ND (ca. 1970s).
Weight: 164.74 gms. A bar with four stamps including the seal of the Hong Kong Shanghai Specie Office on the obverse. Stamps are well punched with some lovely iridescence. Due to some debate on when these were actually produced, the certification company's will not certifies these items. Of note is a another stamp on the reverse, "5.25". This appears to be the Troy Ounce weight of the piece which equates to 163.29 gms. Given the difference between the stamped weight and actual weight, it would lead one to believe this was made prior to digital scales and the very least. Altogether a lovely and flashy piece that could have an interesting story.
