1847-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 17-L. Repunched Date. EF Details--Cleaned (PCGS).

The 1847-D is among the more available Dahlonega Mint half eagles and would be just right for a mintmarked gold type set. The Winter 17-L die marriage from which this coin was struck features the same reverse die as the popular 1846-D/D Winter 15-L variety, but in a later state with the undermintmark no longer evident. The obverse shows faint traces of repunching to the left of the digits 18 in the date.
