An extraordinary strike and condition rarity that also sports strong eye appeal. Vivid pinkish-apricot and powder blue iridescence is largely confined to the peripheries, although the former color further adorns much of the central obverse. Sharply struck with frosty design elements and appreciably mirrored fields. A conditionally challenging hub variety from the first year of Morgan dollar production, the 1878 7 Tailfeathers, Reverse of 1878 can be challenging to locate above the MS-64 level even without a prooflike finish. In NGC-certified DPL this issue is scarce in an absolute sense and rare in the grade offered here. Outstanding visual appeal and sure to catch the eye of advanced Morgan dollar enthusiasts.
