Description

Prescott, Arizona. $10 1929 Ty. 1. Fr. 1801-1. The First NB. Charter #13262. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ. Serial Number 1.

The First National Bank of Prescott was chartered in December of 1928, about a year before Black Tuesday. The bank was liquidated, like so many other banks during the Depression, on March 25th, 1933. The bank issued $65,220 during its short lifetime, with $35,000 reported out at close. Track and Price reports just eight notes are known for this Yavapai County issuing bank, leaving collectors grasping at straws to acquire one of these elusive Arizona treasures. This examples bears the coveted & always in demand Serial Number 1. Bright & fully original paper are clearly found, with jet black design details and dark brown overprints standing out. The Serial Number 1 notes which are available from this bank come from a sheet which was cut for the some of it's parts, given the trending demand for Arizona Nationals. PMG comments "Exceptional Embossing" with punch through embossing glaring through the third party holder.
