1839 Capped Bust Half Dollar. Reeded Edge. HALF DOL. GR-2. Rarity-5+. Large Letters. EF Details--Cleaned (PCGS).
In the 2012 reference A Registry of Die Varieties of Reeded Edge Half Dollars: 1836-1839, Dick Graham describes the 1839 GR-2 as, "A very difficult variety that will take some serious looking to find in any condition." This is only our second offering for the die pairing in recent years, a fleeting opportunity for the specialist.
