1897 Liberty Head Nickel. Proof-66 Cameo (NGC). CAC.
This breathtakingly beautiful specimen exhibits an uncommon degree of field to device contrast for a survivor of this 1,938-piece Proof issue. A soft medium shade of iridescent blue covers the obverse; a similar tone is on the reverse, but accented there by subtle pink and gold. Scarce as a date and rare with the quality and eye appeal offered here, this coin belongs in an advanced numismatic cabinet.
