Undated (1834) William Seward. HT-28, Low-15, DeWitt-CE 1834-5, W-10-112b. Rarity-3. Brass. Plain Edge. MS-62 (PCGS).
27 mm. Frosty surfaces are modestly semi-reflective in the obverse field, both sides attractively original in medium brassy-gold color. A few toning spots on the obverse are completely natural and hardly detracting, while for significant blemishes we note only an old, thin line arcing from Seward's forehead into the left obverse field. Well struck with most design elements fully rendered, and none less than bold. With most examples of HT-28 in numismatic hands grading VF to AU, this desirable Mint State piece is a noteworthy condition rarity. Considering the popularity of Hard Times tokens today, we expect bids to come from all directions!
