Circa 1860 Residence of Washington medal by George H. Lovett. First obverse. Musante GW-304, Baker-113A. Copper. MS-65 RB (PCGS).
34.5 mm. Attractive mottled pastel toning with some faded mint red remaining on both sides, particularly through the obverse fields. Prooflike and very sharply struck, as usual. Apparently a popular series with collectors at the time, as examples featuring various presidents are not uncommon. However, most seen are in white metal. Copper examples are quite a bit scarcer and the Washington medal enjoys stronger demand than most.
