Description
1897 Liberty Head Half Eagle. MS-66 (PCGS).
A sharply struck, wholly original Gem with delicate olive peripheral highlights to otherwise golden-apricot surfaces. Plentiful in lower grades, the 1897 is remarkably rare at and above the MS-66 level despite a mintage of 867,800 circulation strikes. This is one of our nicest offerings for the issue in recent years, and would make an outstanding addition to an advanced gold cabinet.
