Description

CC-100. Continental Currency. January 14, 1779. $65. PMG About Uncirculated 55 EPQ.

No. 34566. No. 23410. Signed by Stretch and Leacock. Emblem of a hand holding a balance. Latin motto FIAT JUSTITIA, which Newman translates "Let justice be done." A boldly printed piece that is lightly circulated and choice. Rich red inks stand in bold contrast to the black text and border design elements. A much scarcer denomination that is found only in this eleventh and final emission. The Newman note as an inferior PCGS Apparent About New 58 and still it realized $720 in 2017. In our November Baltimore sale, we sold a PMG AU 55 (no EPQ) and that realized $1,140. Your cataloger would be shocked if this did not bring a four-figure price.

Estimate: $1000.00-$1500.00
