1858-S Liberty Seated Quarter. Briggs 1-A. EF Details--Environmental Damage (PCGS).
From a limited mintage of 121,000 pieces, the vast majority of which succumbed to heavy commercial use on the West Coast, as is typical for most early San Francisco Mint silver and gold issues. Larry Briggs (1991) assigns an impressive Rarity-5+ rating to the 1858-S quarter in EF and AU grades.
