Description

1873/1873 Liberty Seated Dime. No Arrows. Close 3. Fortin-103, FS-301. Rarity-3. Repunched Date. MS-65 (NGC).

A "Top 100" Seated dime Variety. The date is strongly repunched west to confirm the Cherrypickers' Doubled Die Obverse. The Close 3 design was replaced by the Open 3 type later in the year and also changed to have a slight increase in weight with arrows added left and right of the date. In the No Arrows format, surviving Close 3 examples outnumber the Open 3 by perhaps 5 to 1 except in high grades, where both are rare. Frosty and lustrous pale silver-gold toning decorates both the obverse and reverse on this lovely Seated dime. The strike is far sharper than often seen for the type, with no visible marks visible of consequence. An important opportunity for the specialist.

PCGS# 145494. NGC ID: 23AA.

Estimate: $5’000.00
