FRANCE. Gros Tournois, ND (1270-1314). Philip III or Philip IV. PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield.
Duplessy-213b (Philip IV); Ciani-203 (same). Obverse: + PhILIPPVS REX, short cross pattee; circular legend in outer margin; Reverse: + TVRONVS CIVIS, chatel tournois within border of twelve lis. Very well struck and highly attractive for the type, this issue features a deep cabinet tone with some shimmering hints of brilliance remaining.
