Alexius I, 1081-1118

ALEXIUS I, 1081-1118. AV Hyperpyron, Constantinople Mint, 1092/3-1118. NGC Ch VF. Wrinkled, Graffiti.

S-1913. Obverse: Christ Pantokrator seated facing on throne; Reverse: Alexius standing facing, holding labarum and globus cruciger; manus Dei above, pellet on shaft, six pellets in loros end. Though exhibiting quite a high degree of waviness along with some noted graffiti, this example nevertheless serves as a solid representation of the type.
