Description

Titus, A.D. 79-81

TITUS, A.D. 79-81. Fourree Denarius (2.95 gms), Imitating Rome Mint, A.D. 79. NGC EF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 3/5. Flan Flaws.

RIC-37; RSC-294. Obverse: Laureate head right; Reverse: Capricorn left; globus below. Quite alluringly toned and charming, this ancient forgery stands as a rather faithful imitation of the Flavian prototype. A few light flaws are noted before and behind the portrait, but are not obtrusive.

Ex: Coin Galleries (5/1989) Lot # 232.

Estimate: $100.00 - $200.00
