1869 Medallion-Style Brass Case Enclosing Images of Niagara Falls.

58 mm. The case Extremely Fine. The 16 circular duo-tone engravings show in exquisite detail the Falls, as well as buildings and bridges in the environs. The images are mostly still linked at their edges so that they can be folded up into the case. Two additional paper discs advertise Charles Bierstadt, the photographer responsible for the original views, one of these bearing the 1869 copyright date. The case with an embossed eagle on one side, and NIAGARA within a circular laurel wreath on the other. The medallion housed in a leather and velour case, which is complete and functional, missing only the latch for the closure clasp.
