1918-1924 Order of the Sons of St. George Badge. Enameled Silver. Extremely Fine.
42 mm x 84 mm. 24.5 grams. Ornate four-part badge with a pin-back ribbon bar engraved LIEUT. - COLONEL, a bar engraved 1920 COLONEL 1921, and another bar inscribed MAJOR-GENERAL 1924. Beneath these bars is suspended the arms of the organization, featuring St. George on a globe flanked by enameled American and British flags. At the bottom of this piece are detailed seaside scenes with town, an eagle, a lion, and a ship overlain with a banner inscribed OMNE SOLUM FORTI PATRIA. The reverse is engraved PRESENTED / TO / THOS. CRABTREE / BY / U.S.K.O.S.S.G. / LIEUT.-COLONEL / 1918-1920. Order of the Sons of St. George was an American social and protective association for male British immigrants and their sons.
