Description

Barber Dime

1912-S Barber Dime. MS-66 (PCGS). CAC.

Pale olive-bronze iridescence mingles with dominant pearl-gray patina on both sides of this fully original and aesthetically pleasing Gem. This is an underrated Barber Dime from the 1910s, and it is more challenging to locate in Mint State that the 1911, 1911-D, 1911-S, 1912, 1912-D, 1913, 1914, 1914-D, 1915, 1916 and 1916-S. Writing in the 2009 book Collecting & Investing Strategies for Barber Dimes, our own Jeff Ambio also states that the 1912-S is rarer in the finest Mint State grades than the low mintage 1913-S, as well as the 1893, 1900, 1908-O and 1909. The coin we offer here represents a rare and fleeting bidding opportunity for the astute collector of this series.

PCGS Population: 9; 3 finer (MS-67 finest).

From the Collection of Silas Stanley Roberts, 1888-1966.
