St. Patrick Farthing
Undated (ca. 1652-1674) St. Patrick Farthing. Martin 1c.17-Ca.14, W-11500. Rarity-6+. Copper. Sea Beasts Below King. Fine-15 (PCGS).
75.4 grains. A splendid example of the type with sharpness and surface quality superior to the average specimen at this grade level. Rich chocolate brown color contrasts boldly against a bright golden splasher that almost completely covers the crown. The surfaces are smooth, glossy, and pristine save for a few tiny reverse marks. Both sides are nicely centered and firmly struck throughout with only trivial weakness on the area of the reverse that opposes the high relief body of King David. An excellent choice to represent this mysterious and ever-popular colonial type.
PCGS# 42.
