Undated (1789) George Washington Inaugural Button. Eagle and Star. Cobb-17, DeWitt-GW 1789-3, for type. Copper. Very Fine, Environmental Damage.

34.5 mm. 97.3 grains. Original shank. 54 indentations around the border. Deep brown surfaces with some patches of red and dark olive encrustation and other minor roughness. Few scrapes above the left wing, otherwise free from notable damage. Solid shank and well composed in general. Despite the roughness, the surfaces remain partially glossy and offer a decent overall appearance. A presentable, well defined example of this historic Washington button.
