Description

Georgia

Columbus, Georgia. Bank of Columbus. 1859 $100. PMG Choice Fine 15.

(GA105 G70b) Jan. 1, 1859. Bald, Cousland & Co. Philadelphia. Hunter with dog by a campfire at center. Large vermillion C surrounds the vignette. Vermillion 100 die counters at top left and right with same colored C's at bottom left and right. Fully issued and quite scarce. We have sold more proofs than regular issued notes for this high denomination. The tints remain bright and the engraved design elements are boldly inked. The only other example that we have sold was a reconstructed Fine that we sold for $763.75 in our March 2015 Baltimore sale.

Estimate: $ 400 - 600
