Contemporary Counterfeit English Halfpenny
1775 (?) Contemporary Counterfeit English Halfpenny. George III Type—Double Struck and Reverse Brockage—About Extremely Fine.
Dark steely brown and pleasing to the eye. First strike was basically on-center, the second strike is about 50% off-center with a reverse brockage, the upper part of Britannia visible in brockage form in the upper part of the obverse. Date could be 1773 or 1775, consignor thought it was the former.
From the Bill Gleckler Collection.
