Description

Engraved Coins, Love Tokens, and Coin Jewelry

Love Token Fashioned out of a Quarter Dollar. PLUS a CDV of a soldier wearing a Love Token.

The holed host coin is simply engraved on both sides with a calligraphic C on one side and an O on the other. It has been holed for suspension. The photograph depicts a young soldier in uniform, most likely during the Civil War, who has a very similar love token pinned to his jacket showing the letter C. He is identified on the back as Thomas Telford of Meredith, Del. Co., N.Y. A rare find of a picture showing a love token being worn.

From the Steve M. Tompkins Collection.

Estimate: $ 200
