Engraved Fraternal Lodge Coin Fashioned out of a French 5 Francs of 1848-52.
The reverse of the host coin depicts an intricate pictorial engraving of an elk surrounded by clock numerals and a ribbon running over the ring of numerals and behind the elk, BP OE are engraved on the ribbon. Around the top periphery is engraved TIFFEN / CERVU SALCES / OHIO and No. 94 at each side of the elk. This is a chapter coin for the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. CERVU SALCES is Latin for deer or elk. A handsome and impressive piece, with the edge DIEU PROTÉGÉ LA FRANCE edge lettering of the host coin still intact.
