Description

Engraved Coins, Love Tokens, and Coin Jewelry

Engraved Fraternal Piece Fashioned out of an 1852-Dated Liberty Head Quarter Eagle.

The reverse of the host coin depicts a shield with a helmet at the top, crossed axes behind the shield and a skull and crossbones with two swords on the shield surrounded by the letters F C and B. Partial engraved borders are on each side of the shield. An intact and working pinback is mounted on the reverse of the coin. This may be the symbol of the Knights of Pythias or it could be the Knights Templar, an off-shoot of the Masons. An interesting piece that needs research.

From the Steve M. Tompkins Collection.

Estimate: $ 300
