Counterstamps

LITTLE & CO. (curved) on an 1851 Braided Hair large cent. Brunk-Unlisted, Rulau NY-Try 5. Host coin Fine, but misshapen due to the stamping.

Rulau lists a token from this company but does not list any counterstamped coins. They were cigar manufacturers located at 306-308 River St. in Troy, NY. They were in business from the early 1890s to about 1902, when they were succeeded by the company of Little & Hulett. So far this example is unique.
