Counterstamps
A.R. THOMPSON in a box punch on a 1794 or 1795 Liberty Cap large cent. Brunk T-214, Rulau-Unlisted. Host coin Poor.
Unattributed in Brunk as to the issuer, but due to the size and style of the stamp, it is most likely a silversmith’s mark. With it being struck on an early dated, but well-worn cent, a probable time period is the 1830s to 1840s with some research needed, starting with major New England city directories. This is undoubtedly the example listed in Brunk.
