J. BAILEY in a box punch on an 1827 Matron Head large cent. Brunk-Unlisted, Rulau-Unlisted. Host coin Good.
This is possibly the stamp of Joseph Trowbridge Bailey Sr. (1806-1854) or his son Joseph Trowbridge Bailey Jr. (1835-1918), jewelers and silversmiths working in Philadelphia, PA from the early 1830's for the former, to the 1880s for the latter. At different times they were partnered with others, but it is likely that both worked for themselves over the years and used this stamp.
