Imposing 1,000-Ounce Class New York Assay Office Silver Ingot
1968 United States Assay Office at New York Silver Ingot. No. 3. Lot M633. 1,000-Ounce Class. 998 Fine.
Trapezoid shape: 273 mm x 125 mm x 75 mm top, 282 mm x 142 mm x 75 mm bottom. A phenomenal example, one of the most impressive U.S. government ingots that we have ever offered. The front face has the New York Assay Office hallmark at the lower left, upper left stamped FINE / 998. On one end is the ingot number, 3, with two haphazardly stamped periods below, on the other end the lot number M633. The most pronounced casting imperfections are at the bottom of the ingot, on which face one will also find the boldest and most varied patina. Well preserved, and perhaps not surprisingly since at approximately 60 pounds in weight, this is an ingot that has probably seen little movement over its lifetime. That such a large and valuable example survived the run up in silver prices of the late 20th century is truly remarkable. A rare and exciting offering, and sure to see spirited bidding at auction. An additional shipping fee of $75 will be added to this lot for UPS Ground shipping within the U.S.A. Contact us for international estimated shipping charges. Pickup is not available for this item .
