Liberty Head Half Eagle
1850-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 23-O. Weak D. EF-45 (PCGS).
Appealing honey-gold surfaces are boldly to sharply defined in most areas with appreciable luster remaining. The D mintmark is softly impressed, as noted by PCGS, and only its top half is readily evident. Elusive in all grades due to extensive circulation, the 1850-D half eagle is typically represented by well worn, and often impaired survivors. In solidly graded and aesthetically pleasing Choice Extremely Fine preservation this is a particularly desirable example from a mintage of 43,984 pieces.
PCGS# 98245.
