1878 Trade Dollar. Proof-62 Deep Cameo (PCGS).

A beautiful specimen that is essentially fully brilliant apart form a thin band of golden toning that bisects the obverse. Both sides possess bold contrast between watery fields and satiny, razor sharp devices, an uncommon feature for the date. The first of the Proof-only issues from the final years of the trade dollar series, the 1878 has a mintage of 900 coins. Survivors are eagerly sought by both specimen type collectors and trade dollar enthusiasts.
