Colonial Notes
PA-87. Pennsylvania. July 1, 1757. 15 Shillings. PMG Very Fine 20 Net. Repaired.
No.17258. Signed by Morgan, Ord and third signature. Printed by B. Franklin and D. Hall. Newman mentions that some of the notes from this issue were printed with inverted backs, and this is just such a note. These 1757 issued Pennsylvania notes are much scarcer than the more often seen 1759 and 1764 series. PMG comments "Repaired" although it does not seem to seriously affect the visual impact of the note. Tied with one other for Top Pop at the grading service. Their Population Report, as well as your cataloger's innumerable years of specialization in this genre, tells us that the 20 shilling note is the most common from this series. In our ANA sale last summer we sold a pleasing PCGS Very Fine 35 for $1,200.
