COSTA RICA. Escudo, ND (1849-57). San Jose Mint. NGC EF-45.
Fr-4a; KM-84. A "lion" countermark (Type VI) on a Costa Rica (Central American Republic) Ecudo, 1847-CR JB. The countermark was applied with equal pressure on both sides, hence both show almost complete detail. The host is sharply struck and lightly toned, overall pleasing for the type.
