JULIUS CAESAR. AR Denarius (3.74 gms), Military mint traveling with Caesar, 49 B.C. NGC Ch AU, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 5/5.

Cr-443/1; CRI-9; Syd-1006; RSC-49. Obverse: Elephant advancing right, trampling upon horned serpent; Reverse: Emblems of the pontificate; simpulum, aspergillum, securis, and apex. Quite well centered and struck for the type, with a flan of good metal and some alluring golden toning highlighting the devices on the obverse.
