MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Philip III, 323-317 B.C. AR Tetradrachm (17.07 gms), Susa Mint, ca. 322-320 B.C. NGC EF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 2/5.

Pr-P208. Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; Reverse: Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle and scepter; below throne, ΛA above strut. Though just a hint off-center on the obverse, this rather bright and fairly bold specimen emanates from the period just after the death of Alexander III (the Great) as his mighty empire began to be carved up among those who served under him.
