Description

German States

GERMANY. Bamberg. Taler, 1657. Philipp Valentin von Rieneck. NGC AU-58.

Dav-5055; KM-45. A fairly RARE one-year type, this immensely pleasing taler exhibits a rather deep cabinet tone enlivened by some underlying hints of lustrous brilliance and sparkling iridescence. Given how difficult this type is to encounter, it unsurprisingly stands as the finer of just two graded by NGC, the other being an AU-50 which most recently sold for a total of $3,000 in early 2019.

Ex: Coin Galleries (12/2009) Lot # 520. Ex: Stack Family Collection (Stack's - 4/1983) Lot # 122.

Estimate: $3000.00- $4500.00
