Description

Louis XVI to Napoleon III (1774-1870)

FRANCE. Heim & Co. Transport Warehouses Octagonal Gold Medal, ND (ca. 1850). PCGS SPECIMEN-64 Gold Shield.

Weight: 4.20 gms. Obverse: Steam powered railway car right; Reverse: Implements of commerce: anchor, barrels, caduceus (representing Mercury), and packages. An extremely brilliant and flashy near-Gem, as well as being an unusual and RARE gold piece, this railway-related item references "HEIM ET COMPie" (Company), about which there seems to be little recorded. Records do indicate that the shipping service was extant in the mid-late 1840s, coordinating with the Chemin de Fer du Nord (Northern Rail in France).

Estimate: $500.00- $1000.00
