Description

Louis XV and earlier (through 1774)

FRANCE. Besancon. Ducat, 1656. NGC AU-55.

Fr-78; KM-39. Trade coinage in the name of Charles V. Obverse: Charles, crowned and in full armor, standing right, holding orb and scepter; Reverse: Legend in five lines within garnished cartouche. Well centered and struck, this lustrous example features great eye appeal and only a hint of light handling upon the high points. Rather RARE and not at all seen very often.

Ex: Stack's (1/2008) Lot # 2572.

Estimate: $3000.00- $5000.00
