Description

Saloninus, A.D. 259

SALONINUS AS CAESAR, A.D. 258-260. AE Sestertius, Rome Mint, A.D. 258-260. NGC VG.

RIC-32. Obverse: LIC COR SAL VALERIANVS N CAES, bareheaded, draped, cuirassed bust right; Reverse: PRINCIPI IVVENTVTIS, Saloninus standing left, holding globus and scepter; captive at feet to left. Despite its rather rough and worn condition, this issue is incredibly RARE for the youthful Saloninus, the middle son of Gallienus and Salonina, and it offers just enough in its legends to accurately pinpoint this attribution.

Estimate: $1000.00- $1500.00
