MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Philip III, 323-317 B.C. AV Stater (8.58 gms), Abydos Mint. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 4/5.

SNG ANS-301-3. In the types of Philip II. Obverse: Laureate head of Apollo right; Reverse: Charioteer, holding kentron and reins, driving biga right; star and monogram below; horse leg in exergue. Struck on a somewhat compact flan, this example nevertheless is well centered and exhibits only even wear. A good deal of remaining brilliance simply augments its appeal.
