Dubosq & Company $10
Uniface (1850) Dubosq & Co. $10 Reverse Die Trial. K-4a. Rarity-8. White Metal. MS-62 (NGC).
0.08 grams. Interesting and rare, the present piece represents a splasher or cliche impression from the reverse die used to strike a Dubosq & Co. California gold $10 piece. The surfaces are essentially as made, though the lower edge is ragged where several pieces of the white metal have flaked away. NGC has assigned the MS-62 grade to this and also issued a very attractive Photo Proof illustrating it. Its odd shape and fragile nature does not permit it to be enclosed in an NGC holder, but the appropriate label is shown on the Photo Proof. A desirable item for the territorial gold specialist.
