Capped Bust Half Dollar
1828 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-102. Rarity-2. Curl Base No Knob 2. MS-64+ (PCGS). CAC.
This lovely near-Gem exhibits iridescent cobalt blue peripheral highlights to otherwise silver-apricot and pinkish-gold surfaces. Softly frosted in finish with a silky smooth appearance in hand, sharp to full striking detail is also a praiseworthy attribute. Off the market for several decades and consequently not included in the Autumn 2020 revision to Stephen J. Herrman's AMBPR for Bust half dollars, this is a newcomer to the Condition Census for the 1828 O-102 dies that is sure to catch the eye of advanced collectors.
PCGS# 6148. NGC ID: 24FR.
