Capped Bust Half Dime
1832 Capped Bust Half Dime. LM-12. Rarity-2. MS-65 (PCGS). CAC.
Beautiful satin white surfaces also reveal decided semi prooflike reflectivity in the fields, especially on the reverse. Both sides present as brilliant, a feature that not even a few swirls of faint champagne gold iridescence on the obverse can deny. Also free of grade limiting abrasions, this flashy Gem is sure to have no difficulty finding its way into a high quality type set. Sharply struck in all areas save for where swelling of the die has obliterated the horizontal lines in the reverse shield and also caused slight softness of strike in the center of the obverse. This feature is characteristic of most known examples of the 1832 LM-12 die marriage, including the plate coin on page 222 of the book Federal Half Dimes: 1792-1837 by Logan and McCloskey.
