Connecticut Copper
1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 8-O, W-2840. Rarity-3. Mailed Bust Left, Tall Head. VF-35 (PCGS).
148.8 grains. Golden and pale orange iridescence is seen over much of the evenly granular surface. Quite sharp at the peripheries, including a nice bold date, but showing typical central softness. A few as-made fissures are noted. One of the more interesting die marriages in the Connecticut series, the obverse of Miller 8-O began life as the Miller 16.5 obverse die before being hand recut.
PCGS #349 and #686412.
