Nova Eborac Copper
1787 Nova Eborac Copper. W-5760. Rarity-3. Seated Figure Right. AU-50 BN (NGC).
119.4 grains. Pleasing golden-brown patina with olive highlights. Nicely centered, the right obverse border touches the top of the letters in the word EBORAC, otherwise the legends and design elements on both sides are sharp and clear. A natural flan flaw in the center of the obverse is as made, and there are no marks of consequence on either side of this attractive piece. Struck from an early state of the dies, the crescent-shaped reverse die break at the seated figure's foot is just beginning to form. The W-5760 is by far the scarcer of the two Nova Eborac varieties that share the Medium Bust obverse, the Seated Figure Right Guide Book variety also rarer than its Seated Figure Left counterpart in all grades. A find for the advanced collector.
PCGS# 475. NGC ID: 2B49.
