Connecticut Copper
1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 30-hh.1, W-3175. Rarity-2. Draped Bust Left, ETLIR--Double Struck, Obverse Second Strike 40% Off Center, Reverse Second Strike Blank--VF-20 (PCGS).
A dramatic minting error, two impressions are clearly seen on the obverse, the second off center to 4 o'clock and positioned over the lower right of the first strike. The reverse exhibits only a slight, shallow indent from the second strike, all major design elements from the first impression suitably bold on that side despite the presence of moderate wear. Considerable sharpness of detail is evident within those portions of both obverse strikes. A glossy golden-brown and steely-charcoal example with a pleasingly smooth appearance overall, just a couple of minor planchet flaws at the lower and upper left reverse borders. Sure to see spirited bidding among advanced Connecticut copper enthusiasts.
