Nova Constellatio Copper
1785 Nova Constellatio Copper. Crosby 3-B, W-1895. Rarity-2. CONSTELLATIO, Pointed Rays. EF-40 (PCGS).
Glossy medium brown surfaces with deeper olive-russet in the protected areas around many of the design elements. The latter color is largely associated with some ancient surface scale that does little to detract in hand, and there are also no worrisome marks. Both the obverse and reverse impressions are tight to the right with a few peripheral letters running to or (slightly) off the flan, but the overall design remains bold in the absence of all but light wear. Extensive die rust on the obverse and the reverse break within the bottom of the wreath are both common attributes of this variety.
PCGS# 813.
