Obverse: GRAF FERD V ZEPPELIN, bust of Zeppelin facing slightly right; Reverse: UNSER ZEPPELIN IN TÄTIGKEIT IM FELDZUG 1914, airship flying right, bombing various fortifications below. Edge : 950 SILBER. Extremely lustrous and prooflike, with a pleasing frosting to the devices and a light iridescence; a fair number of hairlines in the fields are noted. Zeppelin was a German general and aircraft manufacturer, who later founded the airship company Luftschiffbau Zeppelin. During World War I, many of his airships were utilized in scouting missions and bombing campaigns, most notably in Britain where their bombings killed over 500 citizens.
