Description

CLAUDIUS, A.D. 41-54. Fourree Denarius (2.98 gms), imitating Lugdunum Mint, A.D. 46-47 or later. CHOICE VERY FINE.
cf. RIC-39 (for prototype); cf. RSC-58 (same). Obverse: Laureate head right; Reverse: Pax-Nemesis advancing right, holding drapery and winged caduceus; to right, serpent right. Some light golden toning envelopes the devices, while the surfaces as a whole are mostly steel gray. A few areas reveal the base metal inner core.
